Figured it’s about time to do a pregnancy trimester recap! I’m already in the 3rd trimester – how can that be?! Time has gone so slow, yet so fast at the same time! We’re getting closer and closer to meeting our baby boy and I couldn’t be more excited!
I’ve been getting so many questions about my pregnancy! So I figured I might as well share and get it all down before I forget (pregnancy brain is real you guys)! I’ll start with Trimester 1 and go from there. 🙂
How Did You Feel?
Let’s just say with the first trimester – I didn’t REALLY know what I was getting into! I’ve always wondered if I’d be one of those girls who would be very sick, or one of the girls who didn’t have a symptom.
I can break down my feelings into 2 main ones: #1. Excited that we were going to have a baby! and #2. Very. very. sick. I was basically stuck in bed for the first half of every day for the first 3 months. The closest thing I could compare it to would be like having a flu for an extended period of time!
During all of that, there were definitely some silver linings. God was teaching me that sometimes I can’t “do it all”, and that’s okay! Sometimes resting is the best thing you can do. Not always! But sometimes. That was a very hard lesson for me to learn, because I’m a constant do-er. I’m not one that likes to be “down and out”.
During this time, I really got to dive into learning more about the photography business. This was great, because once life picked back up again, I knew it’d be hard to get that time back.
Lemonade all day! I wanted gallons of lemonade, I couldn’t get enough.
There was one week in particular that really stood out among them all. All I wanted was olives and lemonade, everything else sounded appalling. ESPECIALLY pizza. Which is a shame, because pizza is one of my favorite things! I couldn’t fathom even the thought of it. Naturally when you’re trying to avoid something, it tends to show up everywhere, am I right? Well I don’t think I had ever seen so many billboards, pizza delivery people and pizza places in my life. Thankfully first trimester is over so I can finally think about pizza again without having to gag.
First trimester was also full of a lot of questions: Is the baby okay? Are they really in there? Is the baby growing? Am I having a girl or a boy?
This was a huge change from 1st trimester! About halfway through my second trimester, I started feeling more like myself again and less like a sick blob. My body was still adjusting and out of whack sometimes, but overall so much better! My energy finally came back and we got some answers to our questions!
We did! Our ultrasound was on a Tuesday, but we waited until Sunday to find out what it was. We wanted to find out with our church family through confetti poppers! Let me tell you, it was one of the longest weeks of my life. I had a gut feeling it would be a boy, but it was so hard to wait so long without knowing for sure. I’m such a planner by nature (plus the teacher side of me), so I’ve wanted to start planning and buying things from the beginning!
We also got more ultrasound pictures, which was really special and sweet. 🙂
This trimester is probably my favorite so far. I still have 2 months to go, so that might change! But I’m enjoying the baby bump! I’m enjoying being able to feel him kick and move around. It gives me so much assurance to know that he’s okay. We also finally got to start on the nursery (which I’ll probably end up doing another blog post about)!
I did! So neither my husband nor I have any family here in Nashville. However, we’re blessed with a wonderful church family who honored us with a baby shower! We’re strong believers in having a spiritual community, there’s something so special about it! We also zoomed the baby shower for our family and friends who were out of town.
Yes! I feel like that could be its own blog post by itself too! We ended up getting them in the same place we got married, which was really cool. What wasn’t so cool was the fiasco behind the dress. Let’s just say – I know now to be more careful about ordering dresses online, especially so close to a photo shoot.
Ritual Vitamins – I’ve been all about the natural and organic stuff lately. These vitamins have no toxic chemicals and bonus-they’re actually see through! If you’d like to try them out for yourself, I have a code you can use here.
Fresh fruit – Lately I’ve been hitting up a local produce market to stock up on locally grown, organic fruits and veggies. Fruit bowls in the morning with granola and peanut butter have been my jam this trimester.
Qia Cocoa Coconut Superflakes Cereal – I discovered this a few years ago when I was looking for a healthier cereal with no added sugar (and didn’t want to give up my chocolate)!
Chick-Fil-A – Can’t lie about that one. Ever since the 2nd trimester, the craving for Chick-fil-a has come on strong and never left.
Pregnancy+ App – Great app for tracking your pregnancy and giving you all kinds of advice along the way!
Pregnancy Pillow – This has been a love/hate relationship from the start. I feel like it helped more during the first trimester ironically! I’ve stopped using it all together this trimester.
Now it’s just a waiting game! I’ve been nesting like crazy, trying to get everything ready and perfect for when he gets here. 2 months to go! Thanks for following this journey with me – I’ll keep you posted! 🙂
